Walking and Cycling - Ayrshire and Arran are great places to bring your walking boots or bike and head off into the open countryside. Fishing - If fishing takes your fancy, the mighty river Stincher has prime salmon beats and has admirable back-up from Girvan, Doon and Ayr. There are also dozens of remote lochs which largely remain unfished.

Springwater Fisheries, Dalrymple -
Fly fishing, bait fishing and course fishing available, with equipment for hire for both fly and bait fishing. Lessons can be booked, and the fishery has good facilities for disabled anglers.

Shopping - To Some shopping also rates as a pastime and there are excellent centres where shoppers can indulge their passion in the larger towns of Ayr, Kilmarnock and Irvine. Quainter shops can also be found in the many rural villages and Glasgow can be reached in around 45 minutes drive from Turnberry Links.

Places to visit

Culzean Castle, near Maybole - Owned and managed by the National Trust for Scotland, Culzean Castle stands on the cliffs looking out towards Arran and Ailsa Craig. The Castle was built by Robert Adam in the 18th century and in the 20th century, President Eisenhower was given the use of apartments during his lifetime in recognition of his contribution to the war effort. Within the Castle grounds are a deer park, swan pond, children's play area, picnic area, restaurant, visitor centre, and a ranger service. Castle open Apr - Oct, 1030 -1700. Park open all year. Burns Cottage and Museum, Alloway - The cottage where Robert Burns was born has been restored to be today much as it was during the poet's life. An audio visual presentation tells the story of the Poet's life, and the adjacent museum contains an important collection of Burns artefacts and manuscripts.
